Envirogrid Retaining Wall System on Prezi

Down Load:  Retaining Wall Design and Installation Guide

Applications : Retaining Walls

Problem: Retaining Wall structures are growing ever more necessary as construction is forced to deal with rough terrain, steep slopes, and embankment reinforcement.  Changes-in-grade present obstacles for roads and other development requiring flatter, more usable land.

Most current types of retaining walls are made of cast-in-place, steel-reinforced concrete walls whose virtue is based entirely upon its internal strength and rigidity.  However, these cantilever walls are expensive, vulnerable to cracking from high stress situations, and unattractive in the environment.

Solution: EnviroGrid retaining walls can be constructed quickly and cost-effectively for almost any situation where a rapid change of grade is needed, whether to hold back a cut slope or to extend and fill a slope steeper than the soil alone would allow.  This gravity retaining wall works by stacking multiple layers of EnviroGrid, which stands by virtue of its weight and can be easily constructed with local aggregates.  In addition, gravity retaining walls have a degree of flexibility that allows them to be constructed over variable foundation soils without loss of structural stability.

The large frictional resistance between the filled layers creates a single composite structure.  The cell walls confine the infill materials, allowing extra imposed loads and eliminating erosion damage.  The outer exposed area of the wall can be vegetated, providing a natural looking but useful structure in place of a concrete wall.
